2008 Bill Veeck Memorial Rotisserie League Rules

 

AUCTION (Saturday, March 29th 10am)

10 teams will purchase 26 players for $112

$0.25 increments

16 position players (7 OF/DH, 7 IF, 2C)

10 pitchers

At the auction a player qualifies at any position he has appeared in 20 Major league games at. If he has played less than 20 ML games the year before he qualifies at the position he played most. In-season qualification is determined by 1 game played at a position.

Minor league and National league players may be purchased or reserved.

If an AL player is traded mid-year his statistics in the NL still count, however he may not be traded to another rotisserie league team.

 

RESERVE LIST

8 men

Back and forth order (1-10, 10-1, 1-10 etc)

Movement prices – DL and direct flip-flop are free

                                Arbitrary moves  - $5

 

CATEGORIES AND PRIZES

10 Categories – HR R RBI SB BAVE W S ERA RATIO K

A pitching staff must complete a minimum of 1000 innings to qualify in ERA and RATIO. Failure to do so will place it last in those categories.

 

NOTE: All remaining teams will be ranked from 10 points down to 2 in ERA and Ratio (or 3 if 2 teams do not make innings – the 2 teams would each get 3 points total from ratio and ERA in that unlikely instance.)

 

Statistics will be available daily on the web courtesy of Jeff and Scott who shall be credited their auction fee in return for their efforts.

 

Transactions need to be emailed or phoned in to Marc by 12 noon Monday except for All-Star week when they are due in by 12 noon Thursday. THIS DEADLINE WILL BE ENFORCED WITH NO AGGRAVATION OR EXCUSES TOLERATED! (Those of you who insist on waiting until the last possible instant should make pretend that the deadline is 11AM.)

 

REDRAFTS

2 redrafts – Last week of May and All-Star Tuesday in July

Maximum of 4 players go back in each. You may buy up to the amount of players you throw in. You may not buy back your own players. Minimum bid - $0.25

 

TRADES

4 trading periods: Post auction to 1st redraft

                             Post redraft 1 until 2nd redraft

                             Post redraft 2 until Thursday noon for all teams, until September 1st

                             for teams within 5 points in the standings.

                             Between seasons

1 trade with each other team allowed during each trading period

1 for 1, 2 for 1, 2 for 2 trades legal during each trading period

Trades are free

 

RETENTION

Each team may retain up to 5 players that it bought at the original auction or traded for between seasons. No reserve list, redrafted, previously retained, NL, or in-season traded players may be retained for the following year.

 

GOVERNANCE

This league is not a democracy. Any gray areas or new situations that arise shall be dealt with by me. I normally ask for and even occasionally listen to advice, but the final word is mine. Teams unwilling or unable to abide by this rule will be asked to leave at the end of a given season. Too much time and effort goes into running this league for it to be spoiled by needless aggravation. When you feel wronged, object. But object nicely and ONCE only per situation. Thank you.
